Gibraltar

Had it not been for the Mediterranean weather, I swear I would have though we had not left Blighty. English accents, fish and chips and pubs almost everywhere you turned. Gibraltar is a good cheap destination to go to for a short break when you can’t quite be arsed to deal with a foreign language. The Rock takes centre stage and it is one impressive Jurassic limestone. The view from Upper Rock was surreal; you can see North Africa, the Costa Del Sol and the Mediterranean meeting the Atlantic. My notes:

1. There are 3 main beaches, Catalan Bay being the best and most lively one. Watch out for the freezing water though, don’t be fooled by the sunshine.
2. Dirt cheap booze and fags.
3. The bus system was simple to figure out (about 4 routes or so) and only cost 60p for a single of £1.50 for a day travel card.
4. Don’t expect much seafood restaurants. You may find some at either Queensway Quay or Marina Bay
5. The airport runway runs through the main road, I kid you not
6. Go up the Rock via cable car, get off at the very top then walk your way down to St Michael's cave and to the Ape's Den and jump on the cable car back down. Oh and don't feed the apes

If you squint you can see North Africa

You would have worshipped it too if you had seen it
